District’s Newspaper from 1930s & World War 2 now published on Trove

An additional 6336 pages of the Essendon Gazette local newspaper are now accessible online on Trove. This digitisation project from 2 July 1931 to 31 January 1946 supplements our previous Trove projects.

Costing $9,757, EHS was grateful to receive a City of Moonee Valley Community Grant of $7,000 back in November 2025. EHS also thanks the State Library Victoria for loan of the microfilm masters and Moonee Valley Libraries whose support led to a cost ‘discount’, and the National Library of Australia.

The Society’s completed Trove projects are now:

• Sep 2026:  Essendon Gazette from 2 July 1931 to 31 January 1946
• May 2025: Essendon Gazette from 23 August 1888 to 25 June 1931.
• July 2023: Essendon Gazette from 23 August 1888 – December 1913.
• May 2023: Essendon and Flemington Chronicle 3 March 1882 to 9 March 1894
