The EHS Collection

Since its inception in 1980, the Essendon Historical Society has amassed a collection relating to the history of the Moonee Valley district, ranging from books and photographs to ephemera and plans.

Today, the Collection includes:

  • artefacts, including badges, coins, trophies, tools, glasses and crockery;
  • books, journals & magazines;
  • documents & ephemera, including stamps, letters, postcards, letterheads, invoices, tickets, theatre programmes; 
  • multimedia files, including microfiche, microfilm, CDs, DVDs and digital files;
  • images & photographs;
  • maps & plans;
  • minute books & registers;
  • oral histories; and
  • textiles, including costumes and pennants.

The Collection for Research

The EHS hosts a range of resources – both primary and secondary – that are useful in research into local history, particularly on individuals and families, residences and public buildings, and organisations.
