Streets of Moonee Valley, a new book by Bob Chalmers.
This publication provides, for our streets, their location, when formed and where possible, how the street names were derived.
An example of the listing for Kellaway Avenue:
KELLAWAY AVENUE (MP); 1959.
This street was originally called St Thomas’ Street as most of the land opposite Queens Park was owned by the nearby St Thomas’ Anglican Church. It was renamed Kellaway Avenue in 1959 in honour of Elize Judith Kellaway, the driving force behind the Pascoe Vale Road Baby Health Centre, and Secretary of the Baby Health Centre movement.
Sponsorship
The Community Bank Strathmore of the Bendigo Bank has generously provided funding to enable the Society to offer the publication at a reasonable price.
