Step back in time on this guided heritage walk, exploring the grand mansions of Essendon and Moonee Ponds with the Essendon Historical Society.
Wander the streets of Moonee Ponds and uncover the stories behind the grand homes of Park Street and Leslie Road with the Essendon Historical Society. This guided walking tour reveals a rich local history of wealth, railways and architecture. Visitors will hear about opulent family homes which line Park Street and Leslie Road. The walk will expore how grand homes have came to find new purposes – including Earlsbrae which stands at the centre of Lowther Hall, Gillespie’s Mansion which became St Columba’s College and PEGS’s Wahgunyah – while others have since vanished from our suburb.

Price is $20 for EHS Members and $25 for Non Members. The walk will have a Guide and a booklet will also be provided.
The walk will meet at 2pm and will take around 2 hours and participants are encouraged to wear suitable walking shoes. Starting & ending points will be communicated closer to the event.
