The founders were three brothers, William, Jock & George. All were World War One veterans (two were Gallipoli veterans). All were wounded and survived.
Simmie & Co constructed a wide range of public, commercial, ecclesiastical and residential buildings. Prominent buildings included St Kilda Baths, Festival Hall and the forecourt of the Shrine.
