This is a companion book to Bill Fleming’s book Edinburgh to Mia Mia on the life of pioneer ancestors Robert and Janet Fleming. Robert and Janet, from Edinburgh, had arrived in Van Diemen’s Land in 1830, then in the Port Phillip District in 1836, and William and Catherine Weir from Glasgow, followed in 1855. A close friendship was formed between the two families, with the men working together in the butchers’ trade. In the 1860s, three Fleming siblings married three Weir siblings.
